Preparing for cross country

In preparation for Cross Country, Room 7 ran two laps around the Glenbrae School field, after warming up. While we were warming up, Room 10 was also running around the field, so I got a little bit excited that we'll be running with the oldest students in the school. It made me feel like I was in Room 10.

It was very cold this morning, the wind blew through my ears and I had goosebumps all over me. Most of us were terrified when we heard that we had to run twice around the field, because our school field is pretty big and we didn't know if we could do it. When we ran around the back of the field (near the soccer goal post), the field was muddy, our shoes got muddy too, but it'll be like that when we do cross country anyway.

Mrs Parker told us to just jog, because we needed strength for when we wanted to catch up to the others. If we speed at the beginning and not save any energy for the end, then we'll be really puffed out and we would end up falling all over the place. So I learnt not to waste all my energy zooming off and beating everyone, because it's about saving energy till the end, and that's what I did. At first I was terrified, but after I did the two laps... I wanted to do 20 more, because I felt refreshed.

Sumo Paint 2

Today with Mrs Raj we created a Sumo Paint using colours and shapes. My art work is about the night and day and what we do during day time and what I think happens while we sleep, but the Ghosts just haves a nice touch, I don't think they're real, but I enjoyed making this Sumo Paint. I know it's only a little bit of work, it's because I only had a little bit of time to make this art work.

Eating insects

We should eat insects as part of a healthy diet.  I agree with this statement because,  are healthy, they are free and cheaper to produce.

Yes! Meat does have protein and iron, but you know what has more? Insects! Insects have protein to help our muscles stay strong. We also need iron, because if we have iron, we also have red blood cells, and without our red blood cells we wouldn't have enough oxygen in our bodies. Our bodies especially need nutritious, because they provide us to have energy and make us grow.

I think insects is what we will eat in the future, because food prices are going up and some people can’t afford normal food any more. So since insects are free with no cost at all and they’re easy to catch, I think people will start to eat insects and keep it as a daily food choice. Most people might think it’s gross, but it’s still healthy for us.

Insects produce less water than meat. To make 1kg of beef it produces 22000L of water. For Bacon/Pork we need 3500L of water to produce it. 1kg of Chicken produces 2300L of water and to make 1kg of insects, we need 1L of water. Only 1L of water! Isn't that a small amount?

Brushing Our Teeth

It is important to brush your teeth everyday because your teeth will rot or you might get cavities. But today Room 7 brushed our teeth for 2 minutes after lunch because we still had a bit of food stuck in our teeth. Most of us couldn't even brush our teeth for 2 minutes - mostly because we were laughing of embarrassment, because the other classes were watching us through the windows, but it was still a lot of fun. I found it hard to keep the toothpaste in our mouth when we were brushing our teeth, but I learnt how long we should brush our teeth for.

Glenbrae School is the best in the world!

WALT: Write an argument
SC: Have three reasons why Glenbrae school is the best school, and support each reason with facts or examples.

Glenbrae School is the best School is the world, because we have lots of sports, clean and tidy uniform and provided food for people who forgot their lunch.

Glenbrae School is very lucky to have the Warriors coming to teach us Rugby League. But everytime they’re teaching other classes, we look outside and watch their game. During our tournaments with other School’s we bate Bailey Road School and we became third place, it may not be first but it’s better than being fourth place. Year 5-8 went to a Netball tournament, and we came third! For us that is a very good score for the year fives. Every Tuesday we have coaches that teach us new skills about Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Netball, Touch, Rugby and Athletics.

Students from Glenbrae School have cereal every morning in the hall, like Weet-Bix and Corn Flakes with some delicious Milo. If you don’t have morning-tea or lunch, you can always go to the office and they’ll give you some food for lunch. For lunch we get a sandwich, a Nut bar and some mixed fruits or sometimes mango and peaches. In the morning, before School starts we can order lunch. We have sandwiches and every Wednesday we can order a Quiche. After morning-tea while we have S.S.R (Sustained Silent Reading) we have one little carton of milk to refresh ourselves and when we’re done we have to fold them.

Everyone comes to School with clean and tidy uniform, so that’s great. We have nice haircuts and hairstyles, we have clean and proper shoes so we can run around without our shoes coming off. Our classrooms are clean and warm because we have a heater, so that is also what makes us clean, warm and safe/comfortable.

Glenbrae School is the best School in the world, because the Warriors are very famous and they got to come to our School to teach us how to get better at playing Rugby League. We are also very lucky to have food provided for us from the staff from Glenbrae, we are thankful that we can still have food when we forgot our lunches. Every time the class gets dirty or messy, we clean the classroom straight away. So Glenbrae School classes look clean.
