Malama Honua Waka Story!
At Pt England beach, Panmure, Auckland, NZ.. Manaiakalani Schools - Glenbrae Room 7, 9, 10 and 8, Pt England, Ruapotaka, Tamaki College, Tamaki Primary, Stonefields, Glen Innes, Panmure Bridge, St Pius X, St Patricks and Kura Kaupapa - 2000 students!
Wednesday 25 March 2015 we walked to Pt England beach to welcome the visitors that sailed on a Waka, all the way from Hawaii to NZ! We and other schools welcomed the visitors by singing Maori songs, E Oho, He Honore and Nga Waka. He Honore and E Oho was just singing. While we’re singing the Nga Waka song there is kind of Haka to it. In the song “E Oho” a rangatira (important person) sang the first parts in the song then we sing the rest of the song. He Honore was just a normal song.
The Hawaiian voyagers came to NZ so they could learn navigation skills. A lot of people were filming this once in a lifetime moment.. The Malama Honua Waka was also going to be on television.
When the waka welcoming was finished we came down to high-five the voyagers and some students from other schools, there were a lot of people we had to high-five. I was trying to run and high-five the voyagers but it was really hard to run in the sand with shoes on. When we were finally done high-fiving the voyagers Glenbrae School and the other schools went up onto the bridge and sat on the grass next to Pt England School.
At last we were on our way back to school we were all so hungry, tired and thirsty! Instead of going back the longer way, we went through a short cut it was like a bush walk. I felt really tired but it was a lot of fun welcoming the Hawaiian voyagers and getting to have a chance on television and maybe newspapers.

Butterfly Creek trip!
On Monday the 16th of March 2015, half of Glenbrae School, Room 7, Room 8, Room 1, Room 4 and Room 5, went on a field trip to Butterfly Creek to learn about dinosaurs, butterflies and crocodiles.
After that, we lined up in class lines in the hall, our teachers called the roll to find out who is here and who is not here. After we finished the roll we had to make sure everyone had a rain coat because it was raining, windy too, so it was very cold.
We then had walked to the bus, there were two buses outside waiting. We hoped in one while our teacher counted how many students there are. I sat next to Nirvana, Whitney and Danny. We drove off on our way to Butterfly Creek.
On our bus ride to Butterfly Creek, we went under the tunnel or bridge! At panmure and that was so exciting. While we went under the tunnel we held our breaths to see how long we could hold it for.
When we arrived Mrs Adcock rang Sunita (Our host) to tell her that we’re here and to come outside to show us where is where.. She pointed us to our eating area andstraight away we ate our morning tea food.
Firstly, we went to the toilets, when we came back Paul (Another staff) showed us these dinosaur features like a dinosaur tooth, dinosaur poop and a unrelated shark tooth. After Paul was finished showing us these awesome dinosaur features, he asked if we had any questions? There were
some interesting questions like “How do fossils get buried?” He answered “Because the earthquakes and natural disasters bury the fossils.” Another question was asked, “What do you call a person who studies dinosaurs?” The answer was paleontologists.
Next we were done and Sunita led us to the Dinosaur Kingdom, that was the place where the mechanical dinosaurs were. They made dinosaur sounds and they looked so real but the weren’t. It was made of sponges, well it felt like a sponge.
Later on, there was a place inside so we went in there and inside there was dinosaur features, crystals and rocks but I think they’re fake. When we were finished mucking around in the Dinosaur Kingdom we went to the train, where it goes only once around the Butterfly Creek so it was pretty short.
Next there was a farm not far from the train, Room 7 went into there and saw lots of cute animals like Goats, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Parrots, Llamas, Chickens, Ducks and Tortoises. If was really fun pats the animals and brushing the Goat.
Before we could go into the Butterfly room, there was an Aquarium and in the Aquarium was basically fish! But there was Nemo and friend. When we got in there Butterfly Room, it was so HOT! Everyone was saying “I’m dying” that was funny. People tried to catch the Butterflies and some people were freaked out or scared of Butterflies.
When our class finished looking at the Butterflies and catching em’ we looked at the Monkeys which were inside the Butterfly room. When you see the Monkey there is a door next to it and that is where the Crocodiles are. So you guessed it we went in there but they were sleeping.. But the alligators and Iguana’s weren’t sleeping so we took a look and guess what?! Paul slid opened the windows so we could pat the Iguana’s but not the Alligators of course.
I think after we went to to the Butterfly Room we had lunch. When we ate lunch we went to the bug room and all the bugs are in there like Tarantulas, Cockroach, Wekas and more.. We went back to the Butterfly Room which was so hot. But Paul showed us a Tarantula up close and personal but some of the public was there.
Finally when Room 7 was finished we went back to the eating room. Sunita was there and Luisa thanked her on the behalf of Glenbrae School. Then we headed back to the bus back to school.

Pizza Fractions
This is my Pizza Fractions! I made it from Google drawings.
The part I found hard was when I had to draw the key exactly the same as the toppings.
In this activity I had to cut my pizza into 4 quarters and then put on any toppings I like.
WALT: Apply fractions to make pizza art.

A few things about me you may not know about me
Shannon,
Friendly, sporty and quiet
Lover of singing in the shower, music and cold ice-cream
Who feels happy, excited and sometimes angry
Who wonders why things were made the way they are?
Who fears any kind of spiders, wasps, bees and hair cuts
Who would like to travel the world and make new friends
Who is able to cross one eye while keeping the other eye straight
Who dreams of living in a big house or mansion with a swimming poolI learned a lot about myself writing this Bio Poem.
I found it difficult to tell the truth about myself and to try to hook in the audience who read my poem.
